Half of senior SEC staff in the 2010s went to work for the firms they regulated. Here is the pattern.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is the federal regulator with the most direct authority over Wall Street. Its senior staff routinely take jobs at the banks, law firms, and investment companies they previously enforced rules against. The pattern is documented by the SEC's own ethics filings and by the Project On Government Oversight, which has tracked the moves for more than a decade.
